Education History & Community Service
Marion Reyes attended Glady's Poet Christian school K-8. Her 8th grade year, with the help of her English teacher June Yasemsky, she made a community service project to fundraise canned food for the Brighter Christmas Foundation. She notified the whole school and asked that everyone participate in this fundraiser. Her original goal was to collect 500 cans of food but with the help of her Poet Leadership classmates, she collected almost 2,000 cans for the Brighter Christmas Foundation. Ever since this successful community service project, Marion has loved helping her community! Marion got into Tracy High School her freshman year through the Agricultural Science Academy Program. She was informed of this program by her English and Science teachers at the time and she is so glad she was able to experience High School while in this program. For her Senior Ag/Sci Project, Marion researched the Causes and Effects of Addictions and decided to fundraised money for a non-profit organization in the United Kingdom for Children of Alcoholism also known as NacoaUK. She had Wristbands made that said "Help Children of Addiction" in a white script font on the turquoise Wristband which represents addiction recovery. Marion raised $365 selling wristbands during the Corona Virus Pandemic and wishes to send the remaining of her wristbands to Nacoa UK so that they are able to keep selling Wristbands and raise $70-$90 more which would be enough to train a new member of the NacoaUK organization to help Children of Alcoholism. "Carry out a random act of KINDNESS with no expectation of reward, safe knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you." This quote by Princess Diana speaks to Marion Reyes because it is a life lesson she was taught when she was younger. It's almost like good karma to her, which is why she continues to help people in and outside of her community and adapts this lesson into her leadership position here at Tracy High School.
